Boy, life moves fast, doesn't it? It seems like just yesterday I was going to church and watching the closing ceremonies of the Olympics-- oh wait, that was yesterday. It seems like just yesterday I posted on here... time is slip sliding away. What can you do? Just breathe...
Updates: We didn't get the house. The couple came into some money and, therefore, do not have to sell. Although I am sad we didn't get it, I am happy for them that they get to keep their home. They were a young couple with two little ones and something had happened. I am grateful the Lord looks out for others and that, maybe in some way, our offer helped them to get the money they needed to save their home. Hopefully every thing works out for them. Unfortunately for us, the search starts all over again. We are going to try to go out tonight to look again. Round Two...
We went over to a gal's house last week to have a play date. Oh my goodness! She is one of the sweetest people I have ever met, a truly genuine person. She also has one of the most amazing homes I have ever seen! The girls were having a blast playing in her pool with a water slide and a HUGE replica of Bruce from finding Nemo (Disney donated it for an auction they went to and her husband bought it). I talked with her and some other ladies while the girls played in the pool. It was fun getting to know people from church.
We went out to dinner with a couple that live right across from us last week. They took us to Joe's BBQ (Bethany, if you are reading this, it was the Joneses. They took us there because you took them there) in downtown Gilbert. It was very good. It was funny because we asked them what brought them to Arizona and he told us he recently had open heart surgery. I started laughing (not because that is a funny thing, but because it is coincidental) saying that David had had heart surgery as well. They started talking and come to find out, they both have a defibrillator. What are the chances? He has a different heart condition than David, but what a small world. I think this makes David feel a little younger knowing that he is not the only bionic man in these parts who doesn't get the senior discount!
I am sad that the Olympics are over. It basically ruled our life for two weeks. The opening ceremony was phenomenal. I can honestly say, in all of my years of watching the Olympics, that it was the most incredible thing I have ever seen. I believe they said that China spent over 40 billion dollars (correct me if I am wrong) on the Olympics. Holy cow! It truly was a feast for the eyes and hearts. It was educational learning more about their people and beautiful country. I have a friend who teaches in Beijing and she loves it over there (well, minus the pollution). Some of my favorite parts were watching different people eating fried centipedes and scorpions (I was pretty grossed out by the starfish, however). I cannot say as that would be something I would try, but it is interesting none the less. If they are eating those for snacks, I wonder what they think of our fattening food? They probably don't think about it. Again, I am sad it is over. It was fun having the girls cheer for Michael Phelps and having Bo mention him in her prayers. All in all, it was a enjoyable and proud time and one I will not soon forget.
And lastly, a story from last night: After we allowed our girls to stay up late to watch the closing ceremonies, we turned off all of the lights to save electricity. David wants the girls to get used to the dark in a positive way (they are already much braver than I ever was. They get excited about thunder and lightening because David made it fun. I still hide in the closet). So, he decided that we would tell stories in the dark, happy stories. Of course, the closet light was turned on, but that is better than the overhead, right? He told the girls a story about how we met and, if you know David at all, it was a fairy tale. Apparently, he was walking through the forest and fell into a hole and I saved him by pulling him out. I knew I was good for him! Boo then told us a story about two princesses named Boo and Bo (their real names, of course). She told how they were playing and had horses and suddenly, there was a wolf and the "wolf ate the girls." I started laughing hysterically, under my breath. Bo could not have been more enthralled by Boo. She watched every move she made and had a little smile on her face. She asked, "What do I do, Sissy?" After she finished, Bo told her story. Watching both girls tell their own little stories was so beautiful. And, even though I couldn't understand too much of what Bo was saying because she was talking and acting quite demure, it touched me so much that I found myself in tears of joy. I may not be the best mom in the world (well, there is no "may," I certainly am far from that title), but I do love my girls. If they should ever read this somewhere down the road, I want them to know that I am so very proud of them and the sweet, caring, loving little ladies they have become. I only pray I get to continue this journey with them for many, many years to come (I would like to be in my 90s or older, preferably). It was a special time, holding David's hand and listening to the imaginations of our children. Thank you Heavenly Father for these amazing moments that may not mean much to anyone else, but mean the world to us!
Here are a few random pictures taken recently (and maybe not so recently, that I wanted to share because my mother told me to!)

What's New Pussycat?
Things have been crazy for the following reasons:
1. The Olympics are on... 'nuf said.
2. We have been trying to potty train Bo.
3. The baby is sick.
4. Click here: A Home of Our Own
Will report later if there is any change!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game
Last week our little family headed downtown to watch the Diamondbacks play the Pirates. I had had a rough day, and David wanted to help me out by taking us to the game (don't let him fool you, he just didn't want to ride the bus home... j/k) We picked up David at work and headed over to purchase the tickets and have dinner at Baja Fresh. We walked on over to find our seats, which were superb considering they only cost $6 a piece (that is after the man charged me $30 for three... somehow he mistook three for five. I guess they sound similar or not) and enjoyed ourselves a baseball game. The girls were in their element. Boo was cheering on the D-Backs (as she was calling them) and she and Bo were able to get the kids behind them to follow their cheer leading. They were even invited to play at the playground and be on the jumbo tron. In my haste I forgot my camera to capture the moment. What can you do? I guess we will just have to go back! I don't think the girls will mind. They were extremely well behaved and seemed to have a great time. Go D-Backs!

Parade Time!
When in Utah, party like those crazy locals! We were invited to go to the Springville Art City Days parade with my cousin and his family. We had to wake up earlier than usual (we were still at the waking up at 10:00 am phase... we have since grown out of that) and head on over. We had a great time with our family and enjoyed all of the free handouts (candy, hair products, candy, coupons, candy. Did I mention the candy?) It was a great time had by all.

The man on the right in the red hat is my cousin, Brendon. Little does he know that Boise State is the best, not U of U. You would think after four years of schooling that I wouldn't have to school him about who is the best. Poor guy :)

Angels at Broken Dawn
Breaking Dawn, the last book in the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer came out early (12:01 am) Saturday morning. Unlike all of the cool people, I didn't have a party to go to so I decided to head over to Borders to try to get a copy of the book. Boy am I ever out of the loop. Apparently you had to pre-order the book (the only thing I pre-ordered when I was a teenager was Bop and Teen Beat... I didn't like to read, I just liked to drool on the pictures), then go get a number to wait in line to buy said pre-ordered book. I, being the completely old person that I am, did not pre-order the book or get there early to get a number. It took me a while to get the baby to bed (David would have done it, but he just doesn't have the skills... ;), so I didn't leave the house until 11:30 pm. I wasn't nervous to leave that late, but then David started talking to me about people being crazy and shooting people for no reason. I decided that this book just might be worth it (not really, but they are pretty fabulous). I arrived safe and sound to a complete madhouse. There were a TON of people there. Mostly teenage girls wearing "Team Edward" and "Bite Me" shirts. A couple of girls walked passed me wearing cardboard forks and the state of Washington around their necks (you would have to read the book to know what I am talking about.). It was more than slightly overwhelming. I stood in line to get my number to buy the book... Z 409. The Z meant you were a loser, apparently, and that you have to wait for all of the smart people to purchase their book first. The 409 meant, well, you can guess what it meant. It meant hours of waiting. I proceeded to pick up "The Host," which I still haven't read, and headed to the back of the store. I ended up reading and talking to some really nice moms while waiting. There were people over by me having debates over the books. Like I said, for me it was kind of crazy and overwhelming. One of the criteria for attending this event was they wanted you to dress up like the characters from the book and there were many who did... I guess. They wear normal clothes in the book so... However I did start to wonder about my own sanity when I noticed a group of teenagers dressed in Harry Potter costumes. Apparently they didn't get the memo that this is about vampires and werewolves, not wizards and witches. What sort of fantasy land are they living in, sheesh! I ended up sitting there for an hour and a half hanging out. They went through 400 pre-order people and were starting on the "z's" when I called David to tell him what was going on. He told me the baby never went to sleep and was hanging out with him. In the end, I left when they were on Z 57 and I still don't have the book, but I got to hang out with some weird kids and moms. If you have it and have read it PLEASE DON'T TELL ME ANYTHING... I DON'T WANT TO KNOW!!!!!!!!!! Your life depends on this!!! ;)
Enough of that, so today was interesting. Bo, in her goodness, decided this morning she wanted a shirt and proceeded to pull everything, and I mean everything, out of a five drawer dresser and dump it on the floor. Least to say, I wasn't very thrilled. In fact, I was pretty upset. But what can you do really, she is two and when you ask her to repeat what you told her not to do, she usually just nods. So she pulled it all out and I didn't have the energy to pick it up and I didn't have the patience to make me, I mean her, do it. Therefore, it was put in a pile of things to do tomorrow morning and the girls were put in bed. I later went to shut the door to the bathroom, when I looked inside their room. The girls had picked up all of the clothes and put them back into the drawers (have you ever seen a baked potato overflowing with toppings? That's what the drawers look like right now, but at least it is inside!!). I couldn't believe it! It was absolutely amazing, one of my proudest moments. Boo and Bo had cleaned up their room... and they did it for me. I am shedding a tear thinking about it. I am so proud of my girls. They are my little angels, devilish at times, but angels. For whatever reason, it is difficult for me to fathom that they even like me, let alone love me. It blew me away, and after an afternoon of crying with joy watching my little ones dance and sing in the living room, it absolutely warmed my heart. I love my girls!!

Signs of the Times
Say it isn't so, Katie Holmes! Please, please don't bring back pegged jeans. I can't do it and I refuse to do it (I am refusing for everyone else as well!!) No, NO, NOOO! Maybe this is the "that" Meatloaf was talking about in his song. "I would do anything for love, but I won't do that... no, no, I won't do that!" Shame on you girl!
